Sat Narayan Relaxation - Satnam Kaur Wester, Germany, 2013

About the song:

Singing in our little home studio, I allowed my voice to dance, to improvise and harmonise with the essence of the mantra. The melody began to crystallize, transmitting a space of healing and tranquility. Sat Narayan is a mantra for peace, clearing heart and mind while also clearing the space around you. This song is a vibrational journey, an offering of love, peace, and forgiveness.

To Make the Impossible Possible - Siri Sadhana Kaur, UK, 2013

About the song:

This track is from the album ‘Alokas Grace’ which is a dedication to my daughter aloka who grew up immersed in the yogic teachings. In her early years (sleeping mainly!) she attended regular kundalini aquarian sadhanas. Aloka attended the Miri Piri school established by Yogi Bhajan in India, its mission is to train the future leaders, teachers, and healers of tomorrow through rigorous discipline, supporting a strong sense of self. She only recently moved back to London to further her studies in music. Aloka's voice is on all of our albums, in her younger years she recorded backing vocals, more recently she features and leads on tracks. As her mother, I am eternally grateful for all the opportunities that enabled her to be surrounded by the timelessness and depth of these teachings, recognizing the importance, influence and the imprints that get carved in our children along the way. Now she is 16 years old, Aloka has started the level 1 teacher training with the Karam Kriya School, and we are currently recording the next mantra album ‘Rise and Shine’ where she will be singing a lot more!.

Ad Guray Nameh - Ashana, USA, 2014

About the Artist:

Ashana is passionate about nurturing the creative process to bring through just the right words, sound, melody, feeling and expression. Her musical calling came at an early age as a young girl growing up in the Bronx, in New York City. She began singing in churches and as time went on, synagogues, temples, sweat lodges and gurdwaras. Classically trained, she spent many years exploring a wide variety of musical genres including jazz, pop, gospel, musical theater as well as composing and teaching children’s music. From ancient to contemporary she immersed herself, graduating with a degree in vocal studies from the Mannes College of Music in New York City. She discovered yoga, chanting and mantra in the early 80’s and is a devoted student of Kundalini yoga and meditation. For the last fifteen years, she has been on a deeply personal journey, studying and exploring sound healing and the voice. During this period she began working with quartz crystal singing bowls, instruments that are often used in contemplative practices to support healing, balance and well-being. Bringing these extraordinary sounds into her music and the lives of others is, Ashana reflects, “my destiny.”

“Music is a blessing, a prayer, and a healing when it comes deeply from the heart” says Ashana. “Music can transport us, lift us to the place where we gently let go and open to receive, reflect and remember the Love we truly are. And as we begin to rest in this Love, our world is transformed. We see beauty in everything. And Heaven becomes fully present in every moment, right here on Earth.”

Ong Namo - Harnam, USA, 2014

About the song:

Ong Namo was the second song featured on my 2011 Album "A Fearless Heart”. The mantra is one of deep personal empowerment - "tuning in” to the divine teacher within each of us through breath, vibration and movement is the greatest blessing.
For me it was a time of great awakening and transformation and I think the music reflects this. There were a lot of changes happening in my life and this song always felt very healing to me. I love to play it live to open a class or concert and there is a gentleness and flow to the music that makes it accessible to people who may not already be familiar with the mantra.

When we made the recording, It was the first time I got the chance to work with producer and multi-instrumentalist Ram Dass Khalsa. His studio was at his parents house in the Bay Area back then and they were original members of the Khalsa String Band (Amar and Sahib-Amar). So there was a whole lot of love and connection to the tradition of 3HO music that made it into that recording. When I listen back now - I can hear it and I am so grateful to be able to share these mantras. I think we might have made a lot of veggie sushi too during those sessions….. which is why the song sounds so yummy!

Ong Kar Nirankar - Ong Sohung - Saravtar, Italy, 2014

About the Song:

Singing these mantras a cappella, as sound healing during relaxation, is how this track was born. I find them very effective to induce a deep state of peace. ‘Ong Kar Nirankar’ and Ong Sohung’ both express the cyclic nature of life, while also pointing to an underlying stillness. Life’s vibratory nature creates constant flux and change. Yet underlying and within this fluctuation is the One still, ever unchanging Being - watching throughout the ‘dance’. Along the path of Self-realisation, recognising and nestling into that peaceful ‘Presence of Being’ is essential. In this track, the quiet ‘Presence of Being’ is reflected by the secondary mantra ‘Ong Sohung’, glinting through the main mantric cycle of ‘Ong Kar Nirankar’. As the mind settles with the mantra, so attention comes to dwell ‘at the centre of the circle’, finding a calm space at the heart centre - cosiness in peaceful Being.

To help integrate this experience, I have created a Celestial Communication, “Peace of Being” expressing in movement the sonic form and frequency of this mantra: https://youtu.be/ZEXUlreMHu8

The sound-current of the mantra ‘Ong’ vibrates ‘creative consciousness’ - also known as Saraswati, the Indian goddess of creation. So I also chose this mantra as the soundtrack for a practice video, with a series of Shakti Flowing Asanas, to the theme of Saraswati: “Power of Creation - Sourcing your Creative Wisdom” - https://youtu.be/MOJhLnSM7TI ~ Sara Avtar

Deciding to record a mantra album was a feeling of the deepest need to express my love for God. And it was an absolute NEED at the time. It was seeded deep within my spirit to use my voice. I kept getting pushed for years to do it with little and big signs. I was being asked to step up to my destiny, and it was hard, I admit for me to listen. So much of my stuff got in the way. I remember the melody for Ad Guray Nameh coming to me so easily and softly, which wasn't always the case. I still hear it and think it is one of the most beautiful I have written. There is joy, pain, and all of life's feeling in it. It seems to be an ode to all we experience and feel, and a request to be embraced in protective love to carry us through.
